Woman critically injured in shooting on Ogontz Avenue; one in custody

PHILADELPHIA, PA – A 28-year-old woman was left in critical condition after being shot late Wednesday afternoon in the city’s 14th District.

Police said the shooting occurred around 5:05 p.m. in the area of the 6900 block of Ogontz Avenue.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to her upper body and was rushed by officers to Albert Einstein Medical Center.

One individual has been taken into custody for further investigation, authorities confirmed.

Police investigating motive and circumstances

Detectives with the department’s Shooting Investigation Group are leading the probe into the incident.

Officials said the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation and that updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
