Shots Fired at Car Causes Major Crash, Several Injured

COLUMBUS, OH- The Columbus Police Department is investigating a shooting and car crash that took place near the area of West Mound Street and South Central Avenue Friday evening.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located a 21-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body. Multiple other individuals were injured due to the automobile accident. The shooting victim was then transported to a local area hospital in stable condition.

“It was later learned that the victim had been traveling in a vehicle with several others when gunshots were fired from a passing vehicle, striking the victim’s vehicle,” according to police.

The victim accelerated his vehicle to get out of the area, which caused an accident with cars.

This incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Columbus Police Felony Assault Unit at 614-645-4141 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477).
