Mays County Man Charged for Distributing Child Abuse Images Online

MAYS LANDING – A man who was flagged by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force after distributing images of child abuse online has been arrested by police.

A 21-year-old Mays Landing man has been charged in connection with the distribution of child abuse images and videos via a social messaging application, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office announced. William K. Edson, 22, was arrested on Monday without incident and lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

“The ICACTF received a referral of inappropriate content distributed on the social media messaging and chat application identified as KIK,” police said. “A subsequent investigation led Atlantic County Prosecutor Detectives to identify Edson and determine he distributed more than 1000 images and videos of child sexual exploitation.”

Edson was arrested and served with one 1st degree distribution charge and one 2nd degree charge surrounding the possession of child abuse images via a social messaging service.
