Pedestrian Struck by Train Along Raritan Valley Line

PLAINFIELD, NJ – police are reporting that one man was struck and killed by a Raritan Valley line train on August 25th at around 8:55 AM. New Jersey Transit spokesman Jim Smith said the incident happened on train 5413 near the Grand Ave Bridge in Plainfield.

Smith said no injuries were reported to the nearly 20 customers and employees working on the train. The train left from Penn Station at around 8:00 AM and was scheduled to arrive at Raritan at 9:08 AM, but never arrived due to the injury. Service was suspended on the Raritan Valley Line between Plainfield and Dunnellon. Service was reopened after the investigation was completed by police.
