Suspect charged in September shooting at Columbus nightclub

Columbus, Ohio -The Columbus Police Department today announced the arrest of a 28-year-old woman for murder in connection to a fatal shooting that took place in September at a nightclub in East Columbus.

According to police, on Sunday, September 25, 2022, Columbus Police were called to the 5500 block of East Livingston Avenue on a report of a shooting.

“On arrival, officers found two female victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The decedent, 30-year-old Shamira Rhodes, was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. The second victim is a 17-year-old girl who was transported to a local hospital in critical condition,” the Columbus Police Department said. “A third victim, a 42-year-old woman, who had also suffered a gunshot wound, left the scene. She was later driven to Mount Carmel East Hospital and is in stable condition.”

Witnesses said a fight broke out during a gathering at the nightclub. That fight escalated when at least one person true a handgun, and shots were fired, striking the three victims. Investigators stilll do not know what led to the dispute and are seeking another person of interest, a female who could provide answers into how the incident escalated into the shooting.
