14-year-old critically injured after being struck by car

SOMERS POINT – A 14-year-old was critically injured while riding a bicycle along the Somers Point Bike Path near Ocean Heights Avenue when struck by a passing vehicle.

Police said the 14-year-old was critically injured and rushed to Alanticare Trauma Center before being airlifted to Cooper Trauma Center.

The driver was identified as Tia Coppin,25, of Atlantic City. Police said speed was not a factor and an investigation is ongoing. Police did not report any citations or violations.
