HACKENSACK, NJ – Police have arrested three men in connection with a double shooting that left one person dead on Saturday in Hackensack.

Dior Alston, Malik Abel, and Rayshawn Powel-Myhand were charged with murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and illegal gun charges.

According to police, at around 5 pm on Saturday, Hackensack police officers responded to the area of Essex Street and Lehigh Street for multiple reports of gunshots.

Upon their arrival, officers located a male victim with a gunshot wound. He was treated at the scene and rushed to the hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A second male, 28-year-old Vidal Nieves, was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound.

Detectives determined Alston shot Nieves and that Abel and Myhand were accomplices in the murder.
