Three dead in Friday night fire in Clifton

A fire on Ladwik Lane claimed the lives of three residents.

CLIFTON, NJ – Police and firefighters in Clifton responded to a house fire on Ladwik Lane near Renaissance Drive in the Athenia section of the city at around 6:30 pm Friday night.

Three people were killed during the blaze. Three police officers and one firefighter also sustained injuries during the fire.

“Last night, a fire on Ladwik Lane claimed the lives of three residents. The cause and origin of the fire are being investigated by Clifton detectives, the Clifton Fire Department, and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office,” the Clifton Police Department said today. “Three firefighters and one police officer were conveyed to the hospital for injuries sustained during the incident and are currently recovering.”

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families,” the department said.
