Woman struck and killed by tractor-trailer in North Bergen

NORTH BERGEN, NJ – A woman was struck and killed by a passing tractor-trailer Friday afternoon in North Bergen.

According to police, detectives are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident on Tonnelle Avenue on Friday.

The collision was reported to the North Bergen Police Department at approximately 12:04 p.m. that a pedestrian had been struck near Tonnelle Avenue and 91st Street.

An officer responding to the incident found the lifeless body of a woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Due to the pending notification of the victim’s next of kin, the victim’s name is being withheld at this time.

As a result of the initial investigation, it was determined that the woman was struck by a tractor-trailer traveling south on Tonnelle Avenue. The driver of the tractor trailer, a 38-year-old Texas man, continued on Tonnelle Avenue and stopped near 68th Street.

No citations were issued.
