It was reported to police that on Friday, January 13, 2022, at 1106 hrs, an unidentified male entered 181 Hester Street, approached a 24-year-old female victim and snatched her cellphone from her hand. When the victim approached the suspect at the door, the male displayed a firearm pointing it directly at the victim and fled on foot with her cellphone. The victim was not injured.

NEW YORK, NY – A 24-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint after a suspect entered a salon at 181 Hester Street.
According to detectives, the suspect entered the building on Friday at around 11 am and approached the woman who was sitting near the front door. He then snatched her phone out of her hand. Police said the man brandished a gun and pointed it at the woman. However, the surveillance video released by the NYPD does not show that during the initial encounter.
The woman was uninjured. The suspect fled the scene.
