NYPD seeking New Year’s Day slashing suspect

NEW YORK, NY – Detectives investigating a New Year’s Day assault in the South Village have released a photo of a white male wanted for slashing a 38-year-old man.

Shortly after the New Year, the victim was walking in the area of 82 Greenwich Street when the suspect approached him and slashed him in the face, above his left eye, with a sharp object.

The suspect fled the scene on foot but was later captured on video hopping a turnstile inside a nearby subway station.

The victim was removed to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. 

The suspect is still at large. Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
