Newark police seeking to identify stolen vehicle used during shooting

NEWARK, NJ – Detectives with the Newark Police Department are still searching for a suspect in a stolen vehicle involved in a shootout last weekend.

Police in Newark are searching for a vehicle suspected to have been driven during a shooting that took place on Sunday,.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé, at approximately 12:56 p.m., police responded to the 400 block of 4th Avenue on a call of shots fired.

Police investigating the call found shell casings, but no signs of property damage, and no injuries were reported.

“Detectives identified the below depicted vehicle, as the one used by the shooting suspect. The vehicle is described as a 2019 blue Hyundai Tucson with New Jersey Registration S54PGA,” Frage said today. “This vehicle was reported stolen out of Newark, before the shooting occurred.”
