MANCHESTER, PA – Police in Northern York County decided not to chase a woman who fled a traffic stop due to the risk to other motorists, but they are now asking the public to help identify her so she can be charged for her violations.
A Northern York County Regional Police Officer stopped a silver Dodge Journey on Thursday morning, April 21, 2023, at around 10:25 AM for violating traffic rules. The officer observed the vehicle driving straight through an intersection marked for right turn only, and also noted that the Pennsylvania registration on the car had expired. The incident took place on W. 11th Ave. at N. George St. in Manchester Township.
Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver informed the officer that she did not have her driver’s license with her. When the officer tried to locate a valid driver’s license number, he was unable to find one.
At that point, the driver fled the traffic stop. The officer pursued the vehicle but decided not to continue the chase due to the high volume of traffic on the road.
The Northern York County Regional Police Department is seeking help from the public in identifying the driver. Anyone with information is asked to contact the department at 717.467.TELL (8355) or tips@nycrpd.org.
