Taxi drivers targeted in Bronx armed robberies

NEW YORK CITY – The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two individuals connected to a robbery pattern involving livery drivers within the 47 and 52 Precincts.

In the first incident, which took place within the 47 Precinct on Friday, April 21, 2023, at approximately 11:30 pm, a 38-year-old female livery driver was dropping off two unknown passengers at 659 East 240 Street. The individuals displayed a firearm and demanded the victim’s property. The victim did not comply, and the individuals fled on foot without taking any property.

The second incident occurred within the 52 Precinct on Saturday, at approximately 2:15 am. A 51-year-old male livery driver was driving when two unknown passengers displayed a firearm and demanded his property. The two individuals removed the victim’s cell phone, tablet, and $300 before fleeing westbound on Grand Concourse on foot. The victim did not sustain any injuries as a result of this incident.

The NYPD has provided descriptions for both suspects and is urging anyone with information regarding these incidents to contact the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or submit their tips online at the Crime Stoppers website. All calls are strictly confidential.
