Retired New York State Police Senior Investigator Dies from Illness Related to 9/11 Service

WILTON, NY – The New York State Police Acting Superintendent, Steven A. Nigrelli, announced the passing of retired Senior Investigator Nicholas A. Georgeadis. Senior Investigator Georgeadis, who was 52 years old, died on April 28, 2023, due to an illness resulting from his assignment in and around the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.

Senior Investigator Georgeadis joined the State Police on April 30, 1997, and served with the agency for 21 years until his retirement on November 28, 2018. He spent most of his career as a member of the State Police Special Investigations Unit and was last assigned to the Office of Counterterrorism.

Following the events of 9/11, Senior Investigator Georgeadis was assigned to New York City to assist in the search and recovery efforts. The illness that ultimately led to his passing was related to his work in the aftermath of the terrorist attack.

Senior Investigator Georgeadis hailed from Wilton, NY, in Saratoga County, and leaves behind his wife Amy and three children – Austin, Alexis, and Thomas.
