SILVER SPRING, MD – A Washington, D.C. man is still in disbelief after winning $50,000 with a Crazy 8s scratch-off ticket.

The man, who enjoys playing scratch-offs and jackpot games as a hobby, stopped by the Fenton Street Exxon in Silver Spring for a Mega Millions ticket, but also decided to purchase a $5 Crazy 8s ticket.

The man’s name has been withheld for his privacy.

After scratching the ticket in the store, the man was initially confused about the win. He then scanned the ticket and saw the message indicating that it was a winner. Excited and in disbelief, the man headed straight home.

Although the man won the prize a few weeks ago, he only recently claimed the prize due to being busy with work. He plans to put the prize money in the bank for now and make plans later.

Fenton Street Exxon, located at 8301 Fenton Street in Silver Spring, will also benefit from the man’s win. For selling a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off, the Montgomery County retailer will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.

The Crazy 8s game launched in November 2022 and still has four more $50,000 top prizes remaining, as well as six $5,000 prizes and thousands of additional prizes ranging from $5 to $1,000.
