Black bear spotted early Wednesday morning in Cranford

Cranford, NJ – Cranford Police have been tracking a small bear on Wednesday after receiving multiple calls from residents in the northeast quadrant of the town.

The bear was initially seen on Lambert Street and was later spotted on Bloomingdale Avenue, Elizabeth Avenue, and lastly on Kenilworth Boulevard in the area of Lenape Park.

While bear sightings are not uncommon in New Jersey, they are not very common in Cranford. However, there have been no reports of this bear acting aggressively. Residents are encouraged to report any sightings of this bear to the non-emergency line at 908-272-2222. In case of emergencies, residents should dial 9-1-1.
