QUEENS, NY – In a courtroom announcement on Tuesday, District Attorney Melinda Katz confirmed that Marcos Anzurez, 34, has been sentenced to 13 years in prison following his conviction for manslaughter.

This case stems from a brutal incident in 2018 when Anzurez and Luis Angel Solis Apolonio, 29, engaged in a heated argument that ended in a physical altercation.

In the ensuing struggle, Anzurez brandished a folding knife, slashing and stabbing Apolonio multiple times. The wounds, inflicted to the victim’s neck, torso, and extremities, resulted in Apolonio’s untimely death.

Anzurez, a resident of 59th Avenue in Flushing, was convicted by a jury in November 2022. Queens Supreme Court Justice Michael Aloise presided over the case, ultimately imposing a determinate sentence of 13 years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision.
