Black bear spotted wandering through Frederick

by Jeff Jones

FREDERICK, MD – Residents in Frederick have reported several sightings of a small bear, prompting a warning by the Frederick Police Department.

The Frederick Police Department says it is fully aware of these reports and is actively monitoring the situation to ensure public safety.

In light of these sightings, FPD advises caution and urges residents to refrain from approaching the bear if they happen to come across it. Bears are wild animals and can exhibit unpredictable behavior, particularly when they feel threatened or cornered.

Police are working to handle the situation and to ensure public safety during the bear’s visit in the area. In most cases, the bear will eventually move on and return to the wild without incident.

The public is advised not to approach, feed, or provoke the animal.
