Loaded Firearm Recovered After Traffic Stop in Dorchester

DORCHESTER, MA – A man from Dorchester was arrested by officers from the District B-3 (Mattapan) on firearm related charges on Saturday. Derrick Jones, 36, was arrested around 1:34 am after officers observed his vehicle traveling at high speed and making multiple abrupt turns. Jones tried to evade officers by turning into a parking lot.

Upon being confronted, Jones fled the scene but was later apprehended. A Taurus G2C firearm with one round in the chamber and eleven rounds in the magazine was recovered from his jacket pocket. Jones was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device.

He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
