One Fatality in Single Vehicle Collision in Seaford Area

SEAFORD, DE – A fatal collision occurred in the Seaford area on Sunday, involving a single motor vehicle. The Delaware State Police are currently investigating the incident.

At around 5:34 a.m., a 1999 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 33-year-old man from Bridgeville, DE, was traveling westbound on Hearns Pond Road. The vehicle failed to stop at a four-way stop sign at the intersection of Hearns Pond Road and Conrail Road. Subsequently, the vehicle traversed a railroad crossing, causing it to go airborne and land in the center of Hearns Pond Road. The vehicle then veered off the road and its front center collided with a tree.

The driver, who was not properly restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene. The identification of the victim is currently withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

Due to the investigation and subsequent clearing of the scene, Hearns Pond Road near the collision site was closed for approximately 4.5 hours.
