D.C. Police Make Arrest in Assault With a Dangerous Weapon Offense

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington, D.C. Metro Police Department has made an arrest in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon offense that happened on Friday afternoon at the 3000 block of Veazey Terrace in Northwest, D.C.

According to law enforcement officials, the incident occurred at approximately 1:01 pm when the suspect and the victim engaged in a heated verbal altercation. The confrontation escalated when the suspect pulled out a handgun, threatened the victim then fled the scene, prompting an immediate response from the authorities.

Responding officers promptly initiated an investigation into the incident. Police successfully apprehended the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Rakeem Jones, a resident of Northwest, D.C. Jones was taken into custody on Friday, and a handgun, believed to be the weapon involved in the incident, was recovered by the officers.

In light of the arrest, Jones now faces several charges related to the offense. The charges include Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Unregistered Firearm, and Unregistered Ammunition.
