Suspects wanted for robbing woman at Washington Heights train station

NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department is seeking public assistance in identifying an individual in connection with an attempted robbery. The incident took place on Friday, May 26, 2023, at around 2:20 pm inside the Fort Washington Avenue and West 181 Street station in the 34 Precinct, Transit District 3.

A 27-year-old female victim was in the mezzanine going through the turnstile for the A train platform when an unknown man approached her from behind and grabbed her right arm.

The suspect then tried to forcibly remove the victim’s cell phone from her hand, leading to a brief struggle. The victim fell to the ground during the struggle but managed to keep her cell phone.

The suspect then fled from the southeast exit of the station. The victim sustained minor injuries to her right arm and knees but refused medical attention.

The suspect is described as a male approximately 5’7″ tall with a medium complexion, a medium build, and a bald head. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black shoes.
