Armed Robbery at Newark Convenience Store Under Investigation

NEWARK, DE – Early Monday morning, Delaware State Police began an investigation into the armed robbery of a local convenience store, the Wawa located at 1750 Capital Trail.

At around 2:19 a.m., a male suspect entered the store, demanded to see the manager, and then revealed a firearm. He ordered money from the safe and cash register.

Complying with his demands, the store manager handed over an undisclosed amount of cash before the suspect fled via the business’s rear exit. At the time, three employees and one customer were present, none of whom sustained injuries.

The suspect is a black male in his early 20s, around 5’10” tall, 160 lbs., and was dressed in dark clothing. Surveillance footage and images are still pending.
