LAKEWOOD, NJ – The Lakewood Police Department is actively conducting investigations into two bank robberies that took place on Friday.
While one of the incidents remained an attempted robbery, the other resulted in a successful heist. Captain Gregory Staffordmisth released a surveillance photo of a male suspect believed to be involved in both cases and are now urging the community to come forward with any information that could lead to his identification.
The initial incident occurred at approximately 3:01 pm when the marked male suspect entered the Wells Fargo Bank located at 425 W Kennedy Boulevard. Armed with a note demanding money, the suspect handed it to the bank teller. However, his attempt was ultimately unsuccessful, as he left the premises empty-handed on foot.
Shortly after, at approximately 3:08 pm, the same male suspect entered the TD Bank located at 1601 Madison Avenue. Once again, he presented a note demanding money to the teller. This time, his efforts proved fruitful, as he managed to flee the scene with a sum of at least $1,000 in cash.
According to eyewitness accounts, the suspect was last seen walking west on E County Line Road from Madison Avenue.
No weapons were brandished during either robbery, minimizing the immediate risk to bank staff and customers.
Officer Alex Guzman Jr. has been assigned to the case and is urging anyone with relevant information regarding the suspect’s identity or the bank robberies to contact him directly at 732-363-0200. The Lakewood Police Department is relying on the community’s vigilance and assistance to swiftly bring this individual to justice.
