Philadelphia Man Arrested on Gun Charge in Delaware

DARLEY ROAD AREA, DE – Shafi Meachum, a 26-year-old man from Philadelphia, was arrested by Delaware State Police on firearm charges early on Sunday. At around 7:34 a.m., troopers were dispatched to I-95 northbound near Darley Road following a report of a man with a firearm in a black Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The man, later identified as Meachum, was found in the backseat of the vehicle with the door open. An on-duty paramedic had previously stopped to check on Meachum, during which a firearm dropped from his lap. After being taken into custody by troopers, Meachum was found to be intoxicated. He was charged with carrying a concealed firearm and possession of a firearm while under the influence, later released on a $600 unsecured bond.
