Teaneck, NJ – Authorities have reported that a repeat offender was apprehended inside a home he was burglarizing, during which he physically assaulted two Teaneck police officers. The suspect, identified as Adrian K. Williams, was caught red-handed by the burglary victim, who promptly notified the police on Wednesday, July 12, around 5 p.m., according to Teaneck Police Chief Andrew R. McGurr.

Williams had been prohibited from being at the Alicia Avenue residence due to a court order, as indicated by records. It was discovered that Williams had a criminal history primarily involving the violation of such orders within Teaneck over the past couple of years.

Upon responding to the scene, officers encountered Williams near the front door, where he attempted to barricade himself inside the premises to impede their entry. The officers, however, successfully gained access by overcoming the resistance.

During the arrest, Williams continued to resist, prompting the officers to subdue him in order to bring him into custody. He was subsequently transported to the police headquarters, where another altercation ensued with law enforcement, as stated by Chief McGurr.

Williams was subdued once again and now faces multiple charges, including three counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, obstruction, burglary, criminal mischief, and contempt of court related to the break-in. Currently, he is being held at Bergen County Jail, awaiting his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
