Berkeley Township Woman Accused of Prescription Fraud and Drug Possession

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ – A 60-year-old woman from Berkeley Township, identified as Candace Colbert, faces numerous charges following an investigation by the Brick Township Street Crimes Unit.

On Friday, the unit executed a residential search warrant at Colbert’s residence as she was suspected of stealing RX prescription blanks from a doctor’s office where she was employed in Brick Township.

Investigations unearthed Colbert’s illicit activities, revealing that she had forged and fraudulently passed thirty-six prescription scripts at various pharmacies in Toms River.

These activities began in March 2022. Charges against Colbert include possession of crack cocaine and heroin, intent to distribute crack cocaine, tampering with evidence, obstructing administration of law, theft of movable property, and other related offenses.

Colbert was processed at Brick Police Headquarters and subsequently released on a summons. Brick Township Police Department extended their gratitude towards Berkeley Township Police Department for their assistance throughout the investigation.
