Buffalo Man Sentenced for Deadly Apartment Attack

BUFFALO, NY – Lewis A. Keys, a 23-year-old resident of Buffalo, has been sentenced to eight years in prison with an additional five years of post-release supervision.

On Saturday, December 17, 2022, around 10:00 pm, Keys, assisted by two co-defendants, attacked Mikhail C. Scott, 25, inside an apartment building on Rodney Street in Buffalo.

Scott suffered blows, kicks, and was dragged down the stairs from the apartment to the sidewalk. Emergency services transported Scott to ECMC where he later died due to his injuries. The Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office declared the death a homicide caused by blunt force trauma to the head.

Keys admitted guilt to the only count in the indictment against him, first-degree manslaughter, on May 22.

The two co-defendants, Daiquan A. Busby, 20, and Christopher L. Busby, 39, face the same charge for their alleged role in the assault. Both men continue to be held without bail and are scheduled for pre-trial hearings in August.
