Beloved Bucks County K-9 Cop Passes

by Ryan Dickinson

MIDDLETOWN, PA – K9 Nyxx served faithfully alongside Officer Kevin Eckenrode for many years, and during their time together, they accomplished remarkable achievements.

Nyxx had more than 400 deployments, leading to over 100 surrenders, 6 apprehensions, and 15 successful tracks. Two notable instances were locating a missing autistic child and apprehending a home invasion suspect.

Nyxx also played a crucial role in assisting Middletown and other locations in more than 60 explosive sweeps and successful article searches. Beyond their professional duties, K9 Nyxx became a beloved member of the community, participating in nearly 100 demonstrations and events across the county.

The loss of any animal is deeply heart-wrenching, but the grief felt by the K9 handler community when they lose their partner is especially profound. The bond formed between a K9 and their handler is unique and beautiful, as they spend countless hours together, trusting each other with their lives.

At this difficult time, thoughts and prayers are requested for K9 Nyxx, Officer Eckenrode, and his family. Their loss is felt deeply, and the support from the community is appreciated.
