EAST CORINTH, VT – The New England town of East Corinth, Vermont, is currently the scene of interest and nostalgia as the filming of Beetlejuice II, the highly anticipated sequel to the 1988 cult classic, is underway.
The production has also attracted unwanted attention from souvenir hunters who have caused concern with two reported thefts from the movie set.
State police officials are actively investigating the incidents, which occurred in separate instances. The first theft involved a large lamppost adorned with a distinctively carved pumpkin decoration. The thieves skillfully bundled up the lamppost, concealed it under a tarp, and swiftly made their escape in a pickup truck, leaving the set security bewildered. The daring heist took place on July 14, leaving the film crew and production team on high alert.
The second incident targeted a 150-pound abstract art piece located in the vicinity of a local cemetery. The theft occurred a few days after the lamppost incident, adding to the growing unease among the Beetlejuice II crew and local authorities. The abstract art piece, presumably a valuable prop used in the film, was removed from its designated location, prompting concerns about the security measures in place at the movie set.
Beetlejuice II, which brings back the iconic Michael Keaton as the mischievous “bio-exorcist” Beetlejuice, has been drawing enthusiastic crowds eager to catch a glimpse of their favorite characters in action. In addition to Keaton, the sequel features the talented Jenna Ortega, known for her role as “Wednesday,” and other prominent cast members. The film promises to deliver a nostalgic experience for fans while introducing new twists to the beloved horror comedy.
This is not the first time East Corinth has been associated with the Beetlejuice franchise, as the original movie was also shot in this picturesque location, adding sentimental value to the ongoing production. The town’s residents have welcomed the crew warmly, hoping to witness movie-making magic once again on their streets.
