WALLKILL, NY – On Tuesday, District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced the sentencing of Horace Duke, a 23-year-old man from Wallkill.

Duke has been sentenced to eighteen years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision. The sentence follows his conviction for manslaughter in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree related to a fatal stabbing incident on October 20, 2022.

Duke was involved in a motor vehicle accident with a 74-year-old man near exit 119 of State Route 17 in Wallkill. During a subsequent argument, Duke stabbed the man in the chest with a kitchen knife, causing his death.

The case was investigated by the Town of Wallkill Police Department, the New York State Police, and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

An Orange County Grand Jury charged Duke with manslaughter in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
