Fire Company Treasurer Doused with Jail Sentence for Stealing $400k from Squad

ORANGE COUNTY, NY – Ian Harriton, a 29-year-old from Monroe, has been sentenced to four to twelve years in state prison by the Orange County District Attorney’s office.

His sentencing comes after his guilty plea to Second Degree Grand Larceny on Monday.

Harriton, in his capacity as the Treasurer of the Monroe Lakeside Fire and Rescue Company, embezzled funds over a span of more than 18 months, from May 2020 through December 2021.

Harriton admitted to stealing over $421,000 from the fire company, situated in Monroe, New York. The court has also ordered Harriton to make full restitution.

The New York State Police were instrumental in confirming the extent of Harriton’s theft and arresting him. District Attorney David M. Hoovler conveyed his gratitude for their comprehensive investigation.
