NYPD Collars Suspect in Deadly Double Shooting in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY – Following an ongoing investigation into a fatal shooting, the New York City Police Department arrested a 20-year-old male on Wednesday.

Andrew Decoteau is now facing several charges including murder, attempted murder, attempted assault, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

The incident in question occurred on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at approximately 12:56 am.

Responding to a ShotSpotter activation at 1144 Bergen Street, officers found two males with gunshot wounds in the lobby of the location.

Kevin Alves, a 38-year-old male, was pronounced dead upon arrival at NYC Health & Hospitals/Kings County due to a gunshot wound to the head. Another 45-year-old male survived with a gunshot wound to the torso and a graze wound to the ear.
