NEWARK, NJ – The Newark Public Safety Director, Fritz G. Fragé, has announced the arrest of 18 men and the recovery of four handguns along with $34,000 in cash in the July warrant roundup. This was part of the Newark Police Summer Crime Reduction Initiative.
The operation, aimed at safeguarding Newark’s residents and visitors, resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of money, suspected to have been obtained fraudulently.
This operation effectively removes wanted individuals from the community.
The 18 individuals were arrested on July 19th and 20th, by the Newark Police Division, collaborating with several law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force and Homeland Security Investigations.
University Hospital’s Emergency Medical Services provided support during the operation.
