Traveler Abandoned Dog at Airport Because He Didn't Have a Crate

PITTSBURGH, PA – This morning, at around 5:30 a.m., Allegheny County Police Department officers stationed at Pittsburgh International Airport responded to a call concerning an unattended dog found in a stroller on airport premises.

After locating a microchip on the animal, officers attempted to contact the owner but were unsuccessful. Further investigation revealed that airline officials had instructed the owner to place the dog in a crate for the flight. Instead, the owner abandoned the dog near the short-term parking area and proceeded to board their flight.

To ensure the dog’s safety and well-being, county police reached out to the state dog warden. The dog will be safely turned over to the proper authorities. The owner is expected to face animal abandonment charges, which the state dog warden will file.
