Maplewood Police Blotter: Graffiti and Theft Cases Being Looked Into

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – The Maplewood Police Department is investigating a series of incidents reported in recent days. On Monday, July 27, officers responded to The Equipment Manufacturing Group at 71 Newark Way following reports of graffiti on the property.

Surveillance footage revealed two unknown individuals spray painting the word “IRIS” and an image of an eye with a halo and wings. No further property damage has been reported.

The same day, officers responded to a report of malicious damage to a vehicle parked at Walgreens, located at 1633 Springfield Avenue. The vehicle owner reported a large rock on the hood of her Silver Dodge Ram Truck. She mentioned a verbal altercation with an unknown male earlier and suspected that he may have followed her.

On Wednesday, July 29, a report was filed about a past theft at The Burger King at 1833 Springfield Avenue. The complainant reported the loss of a black cross shoulder bag containing a passport, driver’s license, and approximately $5,000 in US currency.

All incidents are under investigation by the Maplewood Police Department’s Detective Bureau.
