JERSEY CITY, NJ – Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has announced the arrest of a 45-year-old man, Patrick Gapasin, in connection with a Jersey City collision that caused serious injuries to another driver.

Gapasin, a resident of Jersey City, has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Assault by Auto. He was taken into custody at his home and is now held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility, awaiting his first court appearance.

The incident occurred on Sunday, January 22, at around 7:55 a.m., when the Jersey City Police Department was alerted to a collision in the area of Routes 1 and 9 and Sip Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found two heavily damaged vehicles – a Honda Accord operated by a 60-year-old Jersey City man and an Infinity Q60 driven by Gapasin. Both drivers were transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment, with the 60-year-old suffering multiple serious injuries.

The investigation revealed that Gapasin was traveling north on Routes 1 and 9 at a high rate of speed when his vehicle collided with the Honda Accord at the Sip Avenue intersection.
