ORANGE COUNTY, NY – Robert Everett, a 55-year-old resident of Cuddebackville, has been arrested and charged with multiple counts relating to the illegal commercialization of fish.
Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler revealed that Everett was arrested on July 7. The charges stem from evidence suggesting Everett sold wild caught trout, contravening state regulations.
Documents presented in court allege that Everett profited from selling wild caught trout multiple times in May.
On May 24, the Department of Environmental Conservation Police conducted a search at Everett’s home, finding approximately 40 pounds of trout valued over $700.
Earlier, on March 31, Everett received two summonses for illegal possession of fish and fishing out of season along the Neversink River. If found guilty on all accounts, Everett could face a $5,000 fine and up to one year in prison.
