Police Charge Newark Man for Concealed Illegal Gun

NEWARK, DE – On Wednesday, at around 12:22 am, a plainclothes officer from the Newark Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit noticed a group of people on the sidewalk in the 100-block of East Main Street. Jyron Davis, 20, of Dover, was observed placing a handgun in his waistband.

Upon contact, officers found a loaded handgun in Davis’s waistband and took him into custody without incident. Davis was also found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of his arrest.

Davis was transported to Newark Police headquarters and charged with Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Firearm Under the Influence, and other alcohol-related offenses.

He appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #11 via video and was released on $3,500 unsecured bail.

The Newark Police Department continues to investigate and asks anyone with relevant information to come forward.
