Gloucester Police Welcome Driver Safety on First Day of School

by Phil Stilton

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – Gloucester Township Police are urging drivers to exercise caution as the majority of schools in the area reopen today. The advisory emphasizes the importance of slow driving and vigilance for children, especially in areas without sidewalks.

The department advises drivers to be particularly cautious around bus stops and to look out for children who may dart into the street without warning.

Drivers are also reminded of the laws regarding school buses: when a bus displays red flashing lights and an extended stop-arm, drivers must stop a safe distance away and cannot proceed until the bus deactivates these signals.

The Gloucester Township Police Department stresses that safety is a shared responsibility and urges the community to be alert during the back-to-school period.
