Upon detaining Shepherd, officers discovered a loaded 9mm handgun in a bag slung across his chest.

A trace revealed that the handgun had been stolen in a gun store burglary in July of 2018.

Shepherd has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree, Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing Governmental Administration.
