Neighborhood Alert: Armed Suspect Barricaded in Syracuse Apartment; S.W.A.T. On Scene

SYRACUSE, NY – An adult male suspect is barricaded inside a multi-unit apartment complex on N. State Street after reportedly firing shots at another man.

The incident was reported on Saturday, September 16, at approximately 8:21 a.m. Officers arrived at the 1000 block of N. State Street in response to a shots-fired call and met with an adult male victim who claimed he was shot at by the suspect.

Upon investigation, officers learned that the suspect had barricaded himself in an apartment complex on the same block. Multiple individuals are also reported to be inside the building with the suspect.

Syracuse Police S.W.A.T. and Crisis Negotiators are currently on the scene. Local residents are advised to avoid the area and to shelter in place. The police have also been in contact with Liberty Resources for assistance. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
