Arrest Made in Hawthorne Shooting Incident

PATERSON, NJ – Angel Alberto, a 34-year-old resident of Hawthorne, was recently arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred last Friday.

The Hawthorne Police Department reported that the incident took place around 10:37 p.m. in the area of Wagner Place and Midland Avenue. A 32-year-old male resident of Ridgefield was injured but did not require further medical attention.

Alberto faces multiple charges, including Unlawful Possession of a Handgun and Aggravated Assault. He turned himself in to the Hawthorne Police Department on Sunday.

The investigation revealed Alberto as the individual responsible for the shooting.

The State intends to file a motion for pretrial detention, which will be heard by a Superior Court Judge. Alberto could face significant prison time if convicted, including mandatory minimum sentences under the Graves Act and the New Early Release Act.
