Second Generation Veteran Officers Recognized in Paterson

PATERSON, NJ – Ofc. Richard Ramos and Lt. Angel Vargas, both born in Paterson to Puerto Rican parents, have been pillars in the local community through their work in public service.

This week, the Paterson Police Department recognized both officers for their years of service to the community and their country.

Lt. Vargas began his career as an EMT with the Paterson Fire Department in 1996, joining the Paterson Police Department in 2001. He has since climbed the ranks and worked in various divisions within the force.

Officer Ramos, an active member of the Army National Guard, joined the U.S. Army in 2001. He began his service with the Paterson Police Department in 2007 and has continued to serve the community since then.
