Newark Man Robbed While Getting Off Bus

NEWARK, NJ – An unidentified male suspect allegedly assaulted a man exiting a bus, stealing his wallet and other possessions before fleeing on foot.

The incident took place on Sunday, September 10, around 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Springfield Avenue. The victim was approached by the male suspect who struck him with a closed fist, causing him to fall. The suspect then rifled through the victim’s pockets and made away with his wallet, which contained a debit card, $30.00, and other personal items. The suspect was last seen running north on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.

The suspect is described as a Black male in his early twenties, approximately 5’7″ in height and was clean-shaven at the time of the robbery.

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is asking anyone with information about the suspect to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All tips provided will be kept confidential and could result in a reward.
