Colorado Man Charged for June Shooting in New York City

NEW YORK CITY, NY – The New York City Police Department has apprehended a suspect in relation to an earlier assault.

Khalil Smith, a 24-year-old male from Colorado Springs, CO, was arrested and charged on Monday, at 6:30 PM.

Charges against Smith include attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. The arrest follows an incident on Friday, June 2, 12:40 AM, where a 28-year-old male victim was shot during a verbal dispute on 51 Chrystie Street.

The victim, who drove himself to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue, survived a gunshot wound to the left cheek and a graze wound to the back of the neck.

The police are currently continuing with further proceedings and investigations related to the case.
