ECB’s Kazimir: latest hike was maybe the last, still need to see data

by Reuters

(Reuters) – The European Central Bank’s rate hike last month was likely the last although the bank cannot be certain until seeing data available at meetings in December and March, ECB policymaker Peter Kazimir said on Thursday.

“And I will repeat that I firmly believe, also on the basis of these (latest core inflation) numbers, that the rate increase at the last meeting was the last,” policymaker Kazimir said.

“We really need to be convinced that we are at the peak when it comes to rates, and from this point of view only real data and numbers presented to us at the December and then March meetings can convince us.”
