Man Shot With His Own Gun During Road Rage Incident Near Temple University

PHILADELPHIA, PA – A 24-year-old man was injured after being shot with his own firearm on Temple University’s campus on Tuesday at approximately 11:30 a.m.

The shooting took place on the 1600 block of Broad Street, close to Temple’s Morgan Hall.

Philadelphia Police Department’s Lieutenant Dennis Rosenbaum explained that after an altercation possibly related to a traffic incident, the shooter seized the other man’s firearm and shot him twice in the hand.

The injured man was transported to Temple Hospital and is currently in stable condition. Security footage later obtained by the police showed the assailant fleeing north on Broad Street, discarding the firearm in a storm drain.

No arrests have been announced. In light of the incident, Temple University issued a statement expressing deep concern over gun violence incidents near the campus.
