Pedestrian Struck and Killed Overnight in Ellendale

ELLENDALE, DE – A fatal incident occurred in Ellendale involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. The event unfolded on October 7, around 11:16 p.m., when a 2005 Toyota Avalon headed south on Dupont Boulevard.

At the intersection of Dupont Boulevard and Milton Ellendale Highway, another vehicle, unrelated to the crash, was halted at a red light. A passenger from this stationary vehicle alighted and began traversing the intersection westbound. This led the individual into the Toyota’s path, resulting in a collision.

The pedestrian, a 23-year-old male from Harrington, succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Authorities are withholding his identity pending family notification. Meanwhile, the Toyota’s driver, a 32-year-old man from Milton, endured minor injuries.

Following the incident, the vicinity was temporarily inaccessible for roughly three hours, allowing for a comprehensive probe and roadway clearance.
